Why Toowoomba retaining walls need local knowledge

Retaining walls are not a one-size job, and the Darling Downs proves it. The black soil out at Glenvale, Wilsonton and Westbrook is some of the most reactive clay in the country. It swells through a wet season and shrinks through a dry one, and that constant movement is what cracks and rotates walls that were never built for it. If your wall needs council approval or engineering - which usually applies once it tops 1.0 metre, carries a surcharge such as a driveway, or sits close to a building - your specialist arranges the AS 4678 design, the RPEQ engineer and the Toowoomba Regional Council paperwork as part of the job. You deal with one team from the first measure-up to the final clean-up, and the council and engineering side is handled for you rather than landed on your desk.
